雞仔餅

Ever heard of the phrase "生在杭州,食在廣州,住在蘇州,死在柳州"? Basically, this phrase refers to the fact that 廣州(Guangzhou) has the best cuisine when it comes to Chinese dishes. So I'll take this chance to introduce a famous snacks of Guangzhou - 雞仔餅. As the name suggests,雞仔餅 (or little chicken biscuit), is a biscuit made with real chicken meat and dough. Golden brown on the outside, it has an irregular shape, though mostly round or oval, and has a flat bottom which is caused by being baked on a tray, and is around the size of the hole created when you put the tip of your thumb and index finger together. Though it is made with chicken meat, you can rarely find chicken flesh in the biscuit, but rather, condensed chicken fats. Sure enough, the biscuit is dry and oily though rather crispy and a bit salty. Of course, the taste is quite memorable.

Hmmmm, funny. Why is the English translation called "Chicken Pizza" instead of little chicken biscuit? Anyway, we have to trust them, right? Since China's English is supposed to be improving due to the Olympics.
